Pat Smith is an open vessel that believes her purpose began the moment she emerged into the world. While her roots were established in Chesapeake, Virginia, her Dallas, Texas residence is where her flourishing legacy is unfolding. Johnny Pickering specializes in helping schools understand the impact their Social Media has on prospective students, and the importance of teaching the next generation how to effectively promote themselves to reach their goals after graduation. He currently heads up Business Development for Beauty as a Business, working with schools internationally to improve the educator’s and student’s understanding of Social Media and Google on a business level, as well as, an individual’s success. Stephanie Carter is the co-founder of Beauty As A Business, a social media curriculum for beauty school students. After years in television news, Stephanie moved into PR & Digital Marketing for education. She’s spent the past decade studying how students choose schools and helping schools increase enrollments. Through BAAB, she’s helping schools set their students up for career and social media success while they’re still in school. Sally is one of the country’s leading authorities on Federal financial aid administration with more than 42 years of “in the trenches” experience. Tammy Taylor Founder of Tammy Taylor Nails, Inc. has been a visionary in the Nail and Beauty Industry since 1983. She promotes education weekly on her social media outlets, has live workshops, nail bootcamps and has taught over 5,000 classes. Tammy has created thousands of products and procedures, wrote her NIC approved 625-page nail school textbook and works daily at her headquarters in Southern California, developing new products, colors, and techniques.
Denise Herman began her diverse professional career as an educator, then as a business person and an attorney. She holds a dual Masters in Education and Business from Seton Hall University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers Law School. Ms. Herman’s first career was as a teacher in the public sector. She taught elementary school, middle school and, later, went on to teach at the university level. Throughout her legal career, Ms. Herman has provided counsel to various regulated industries, including the aviation, health care, financial services and education sectors. Ms. Herman opened her law offices in Florida in 2006, while simultaneously teaching undergraduate pre-law students at Keiser University. In her law practice, her goal is to apply her extensive and diverse business experience to help clients find practical and cost-effective solutions to legal problems. JoAnn Gardner is a co-owner of Sterling Ideas, a professional IT company based out of Tampa, Florida, that has been serving clients for 24 years. She heads up the Compliance Team and works diligently to help clients meet the requirements of the FTC Safeguards Rule
An alumnus of the University of Florida, Sterling Gardner is a Senior Service Delivery Engineer and Project Manager at Sterling Ideas. He lends technical expertise to the Compliance Team.
Chris Tellis was born in 1950 and graduated from Yale University in 1974.
In 1986 Chris Tellis founded Antenna Audio, a company which used oral histories and theatrical sound designs to create audio tours for museums and historic sites. Over the next 22 years Antenna Audio grew to become the leading museum audio interpretation business worldwide, with offices in 14 countries and permanent programs at the Louvre, the Vatican, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Getty Museum, The Smithsonian, The Tokyo Museum of Art, The Hong Kong Museum of Art, The National Palace Museum and hundreds of other museums and cultural sites throughout the world. In his role as worldwide CEO of Antenna, Chris lived in London from 2001-2003, and was named by Fortune Magazine as one of America’s leading new entrepreneurs.
Chris returned to Sausalito in 2004 and in 2006 sold Antenna Audio to Discovery Networks.
In addition to being president of the California College of Barbering and Cosmetology, Chris is president of Embarcadero Financial Corporation and General Partner of Interest Income Partners, a private investment fund. He also owns and manages the Yellow Ferry Harbor, a houseboat marina in Sausalito. Chris Tellis and his wife, the painter Isabella Kirkland, live in the marina on the eponymous Yellow Ferry, an 1888 Seattle ferryboat Chris is also chairman emeritus of the board of directors at the San Francisco Art Institute.
Mr. Blair joined the Ogle School in 2008 after the founder retired. Over the last 15 years, Mr. Blair established a quality focused, metrics-driven culture while implementing industry-leading practices throughout the organization.
Today, the Ogle School graduates nearly 3,000 students annually with 80% graduation rates, 99% licensure and 80% graduate employment across nine campuses in some of the major Texas cities of Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
John is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He supports Michigan football, likes to travel and spend time with his 15-month-old daughter.
Edward M. Cramp represents institutions of higher education around the United States in accreditation, regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters. He is a team lead for the Duane Morris Education industry group. He also serves as the managing partner of the firm’s San Diego office.
Mr. Cramp is active in the higher education community. He regularly speaks at conferences and events throughout the country on a variety of issues. Mr. Cramp also teaches higher education law and compliance as an adjunct faculty member at the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law and College of Education.
Mr. Cramp served as a judge advocate in the United States Navy, where he was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his time in the naval service, he defended numerous matters before courts-martial and administrative boards. He also represented the interests of the United States in claims brought against and on behalf of the Navy.
Mr. Cramp is a strong advocate of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and LGBTQ rights. He serves on the steering committee of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion program. He regularly represents members of the LGBTQ community in civil rights matters on a pro bono basis and is active in the local LGBTQ community.
Mr. Cramp is admitted to practice in California and Illinois. He is a graduate, with honors, of the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law and a graduate of the University of California, Riverside.
Chris DeLuca is the founder of DeLuca Law LLC and serves Of Counsel with the law firm of Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C.. Chris has over 30 years of experience providing legal, financial and management services to business owners and career school operators. In addition to being a licensed attorney, Chris is also a certified public accountant (inactive status). Prior to founding DeLuca Law LLC, Chris spent nine years serving as in-house legal counsel and Chief Financial Officer for a multi-state cosmetology school group. Chris has served as a negotiator on U.S. Department of Education negotiated rulemaking committees, and is a frequent speaker on higher education regulatory issues.
Corina Santoro is the VP of Product and Customer Experience for Milady, the leader in beauty and wellness education. Her work is focused on innovating and re-imagining products and services that prepare students to enter the workplace ready to succeed today and in the jobs of tomorrow.
A seasoned product development executive, she has launched products and programs around the globe and received numerous accolades over her 20-year career, including the prestigious 40 under 40 award. When not traveling, speaking and developing new products, Corina is a mom to three boys and loves to workout and give back to her local community. She is often recognized for her signature purple, curly hair.

Brian Newman is currently the principal of Abington Strategies, LLC, a government and public affairs firm. In this capacity, he serves as State Relations Advisor to the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) and annually tracks over 300 state bills of interest to AACS member schools.
From 1997 to 2013, Brian was a member of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities’ (APSCU) government relations department. As APSCU’s Director of State Affairs, Brian established a state government relations program for an association that was previously federally focused. He resides with his family in Arlington, Virginia and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a Master’s degree in Political Management from The George Washington University.
Cathy Koluch has been in the school business for over 3 decades, and is the founder of an award-winning brand of cosmetology schools in Phoenix, AZ with three campuses. Cathy holds a degree from Whitworth University and was a college basketball player. Over her years in the industry, she has held every position within a school. She was appointed by former AZ Governor Jan Brewer as Commissioner on the Arizona Post-Secondary Education Commission, led the fight to stop deregulation in her state, and has served on several committees within AACS including serving as chair of the AACS Affinity and Strategy Committee.
