AACS is proud to announce the winner of the Community Involvement Golden School Award, The Salon Professional Academy, Appleton.

TSPA Appleton is committed to making a difference in the lives of their students and within the community that so graciously supports them. They believe that any community involvement can make a huge impact not only on those around us, the guests, but also the students who get to take part in life changing events and give back. These types of involvement in their community lead to long-lasting and important partnerships that, over time, are strengthened and allow for the capacity to change lives when we all come together for the greater good.

Each month, The Salon Professional Academy in Appleton picks a charity or organization to give back too. Each organization that they donate to has a specific meaning that brings value to the “why” behind the donation. Last year, TSPA Appleton collected and raised over $300 worth of school supplies, and collected items to be donated to Harbor House. Harbor House is a local Domestic Abuse Shelter that provides a Christmas for all the women and children in their care. From their donations, they were able to provide gifts to over 45 women and children in the facility.

Within the first few months of 2021, TSPA Appleton gave out over a 100 free haircuts to local healthcare workers. This allowed them the opportunity to not only pamper themselves, but to relax and take a break from their busy and draining daily work duties.

Every year in May, TSPA Appleton gives their time and skills to the local Boys and Girls Club. They we help over 30 girls get their hair and make up done and helped them find dresses to attend a tea party with their dads. This opportunity of giving back to the community was one that provided them with the chance to hear the kids stories and how much this day meant to them all.

This past June, TSPA Appleton collected $700 to be Fair Wisconsin, a local organization that prides itself on bringing education to the public on the LGBTQ community. With summer in full swing, they wanted to make July a super special month for giving back. July marked the one year mark of a little boy in their community that was tragically killed in an auto accident. In his honor, they were able to donate over $4,000 in toys to Children’s Wisconsin and bring a smiling face to countless children.

All of these examples (and more) have allowed TSPA Appleton to see those around us in a new light, with a little more compassion, empathy and grace. We are honored to have members like The Salon Professional Academy in Appleton who are committed to their local community.
