AACS is proud to announce the finalist of the Community Involvement Golden School Award, Eric Fisher Academy.
Giving back is a huge part of Eric Fisher Academy’s culture. They frequently participate in community events, support charities, and partner with local organizations to support their community. It’s their goal to help drive awareness and enrich students’ education with their efforts.
There’s no question that 2020 presented challenges for all of us—especially healthcare workers. Eric Fisher Academy kicked off 2021 by honoring local healthcare workers for helping to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the spirit of giving back for all their hours of sacrifice, Eric Fisher Academy offered all healthcare workers one free spa service and one free salon service of their choice for the entire month of January. This proved to be incredibly successful, and it wasn’t long before the books were full. In total, students performed 866 free services (for a total of $31,353.00) for healthcare workers! Most importantly, it gave Eric Fisher Academy students the opportunity to show their appreciation while gaining lots of valuable, hands-on experience and networking with potential clients.
Another big fundraiser Eric Fisher Academy hosted in 2021 was Glam for Good—a day of donation to benefit ICT SOS, a Wichita-based non-profit that connects human trafficking survivors to community resources. During this event, they offered 4 exclusive packages at varying price points that clients could receive with all service proceeds going directly to support ICT SOS. One of Eric Fisher Academy’s longest-running traditions is to host a yearly haircut-a-thon to support a different local charity. Past haircut-a-thons have benefited the Kansas Humane Society, Kansas American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association of Kansas, Kansas Children’s Service League, and many more.
In addition to their larger efforts, Eric Fisher Academy is constantly seeking out fundraising opportunities of all kinds. They recently teamed up with a local moving company to donate free haircuts for Moving Kids Forward and collected essential items to support Movers for Moms®, a community-based program seeking to make life easier for less fortunate women staying in local domestic abuse or homeless shelters. Eric Fisher Academy donates goods and services to as many local events as possible, as they often need items for auctions and raffles.
Eric Fisher Academy believes that being active in their community not only benefits those in need, but it also creates awareness about Eric Fisher Academy, the programs we offer, the education we provide, and the potential the beauty industry has to offer. It often also brings new clients; helping Eric Fisher Academy to provide students with a real-world education that prepares them for greatness in the beauty industry.
