AACS is proud to announce the finalist of the Advocacy Golden School Award, California College of Barbering and Cosmetology.

California College of Barbering and Cosmetology has been extremely involved in the battle against SB 803, which would eliminate the license for cutting and shampooing hair, and reduce the cosmetology and barbering hours from 1,600 hours and 1,500 hours respectively to 1,000. The owner, Chris Tellis, was one of two speakers representing all the salons, barbershops, students, and schools that oppose this legislation. Chris’ arguments formed the basis for all the written petitions to the legislatures.

The California College of Barbering and Cosmetology education staff drafted the reform curriculums for barbering and that are being presented to Senator Roth, the author of the legislation, and the rest of the senators and assembly members.
