He started his career working with the world-famous Vidal Sassoon Company, he moved on to work for the Bruce of Crescendo Hair Salons in Toronto, Canada before opening his own highly successful hair salons in Manchester, England.
Later he took his experience in a different direction, moving into the sales and service side of the hair and beauty industry first as a sales consultant, national educator then as a national sales manager with major manufacturers including Nexus Products Company. Over the years, Charles has represented several international companies, as a salon consultant, where he won many awards for sales and service excellence. What is truly remarkable about Charles is where he came from. For 25 years, he lived with a severe stuttering disability, suffering much ridicule, rejection and prejudice. He sometimes went for long periods of not being able to speak at all, living in a world of silence and dreaming of one day speaking fluently in public.
Charles realized his dream after making an important decision: to take full responsibility for his life and to confront his challenges and fears head-on by taking action. His powerful story of refusing to give up in the face of adversity, overcoming obstacles and winning against the odds has special meaning in the hair industry as it was the place where Charles found his true voice and his story encourages hairdressers to reach for their dreams and to realize nothing is impossible. Shannon King is the Education and Artistic Director for ERGO Research, Inc., a leading manufacturer of professional styling tools based in Valencia, CA. A world-respected salon educator, teachers’ trainer and hair designer, King’s extensive career in the professional beauty industry has already reached many heights. At ERGO Research, King oversees the development of the company’s North American educational curriculum and trains the trainers who implement the curriculum. He also directs the ERGO Artistic Team for creative and technical presentations as well as for hair fashion trend photo collections. King works directly with ERGO President and Founder, Robert Reed. Prior to joining ERGO Research in October, 2013, Shannon King worked most recently with Matrix as Director of Global Training. King’s illustrious career also includes serving Redken as an international and national education ambassador on stage and at their New York Redken Exchange education center. At Softsheen-Carson, King headed up education, leading a talented team of salon professionals and session artists to deliver world-class education to salons and consumers. King began his educational career working with manufacturers such as John Paul Mitchell Systems, American Crew, Mizani, Arosci and Clairol. His media appearances include doing beauty make-overs on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ among other press appearances and interviews. King ‘grew up in the business’ with parents who were hair stylists. Carol Woodard has helped thousands of students reach their dream of becoming successful in their chosen careers—while continuing to inspire those who educate them. An international speaker, educator, and author, Carol is an American Board-Certified Neuro-Linguistic Master Practitioner and a member of the International Guild of Neuro-Linguistic Practitioners. She is the former chairperson for the Career Educators Alliance (CEA), where she served a role in planning annual events while leading a committee of more than 20 people and teaching workshops.

Carol’s public speaking engagements have gained international attention and has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine as an education expert. As a member of the United States Tennis Association, her passion for helping others realize that they can be any and everything they want to be on and off the tennis court has resulted in many lifelong relationships. She is known around the globe, from her hometown in Texas to Russia, Sweden, Chile, and Australia, as “Momma Muffin” by players on the collegiate tennis circuit. In 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark, and is the proud mother of two daughters, Jill and Angie. Carol and Mark are “Mop and Pop” to five beautiful grandchildren and currently live in Burleson, Texas.

Malinda is a practicing cosmetologist, esthetician, instructor, author, speaker and business owner with 32 years in all branches of our industry. Since graduating Malinda has been a contributing educator for Brocato International, Lanza, Tressa, Glymed, Image and Lira Clinical. In 2002 Malinda created the manuals and training videos on Micro Dermabrasion for Smart Peel and Candela Crystal Peels Systems. Malinda co-owned Academy of Aesthetic Arts for 10 plus years and assisted over 600 of her graduates to find continued success in their chosen field of esthetics. Derik helps schools build their brands on social media, engage with potential students and leverage social media to generate leads. As the Promotions Manager at Oozle Media, he manages over $700,000/year in social ad spend, as well as organic social media and brand reputation. For Derik, advancing with the industry and training others is the most rewarding part of the role. Outside of the office, Derik is a father of three and loves portrait photography.

A technician, educator, mentor and business owner, Mary Nielsen has been at the forefront in medical esthetics since its infancy in the early 1990s. She is a Certified Advanced Esthetician in the State of Oregon and a Master Esthetician in Washington. She is a licensed esthetics instructor. She is also a licensed nurse. She is currently Vice Chair and Industry Expert on the Oregon Board of Certified Advanced Estheticians. She is the author of A Compendium for Advanced Aesthetics, a Guide for the Master Esthetician and writes regularly for Milady Pro. She is the author for four chapters in the newest Milady Standard Esthetics textbook released in April 2019. She is also a diplomate with the American Board of Laser Surgery in Cosmetic Laser Procedures.

Angie Shuler is an entertaining and enthusiastic national educator with over 40 years of teaching experience and a reputation for telling it like it is with a touch of Southern magnolia drawl. With a Master's Degree in Secondary Ed, she is an author, motivational speaker and a classroom guru on what it takes to "bring it" in the classroom. She taught 8th English/Language Arts for 26 years, joined the cosmetology industry over 20 years ago and is currently also an Advocate for the Special Needs community. She has served as a NACCAS academic evaluator, on the Panel Review Board and is the founder/CEO of This Works! - an educational consulting business focusing on educational improvement. She has taught over 850 successful SC cosmetologists the classes needed to become licensed instructors. Angie has presented at AACS/CEA conferences for over 16 years. Married to Kenneth Shuler for 20+ years, together they run 8 cosmetology schools across South Carolina.

With over 13 years experience, Crickett is a leader in the waxing world when it comes to waxing education and creating a profitable waxing business. She is the Owner of The Wax Chick.com and creator of the Beelicious Line of Waxes and waxing products. She truly believes that everyone can learn to wax and be successful doing it, if that is there passion.

As VP of Training and Client Services at Enrollment Resources, Tom King helps career colleges improve their conversion rates and increase enrollment by evaluating and improving tactics within their Marketing and Admissions processes. Tom brings a great deal of insight into marketing, admissions, program creation, facility expansion, policy and procedure changes, information technology implementation and general organizational improvements for colleges. Prior to joining Enrollment Resources, Tom owned and managed his own school. In his first five years, he increased college enrollment from 381 students to over 1,400 while also overseeing the training, career services, information technology, financial aid and corporate development departments. Tom is a respected speaker, and has presented and lead over 500 talks and workshops to various groups in the education industry across North America.

Jane Archie is a Licensed Cosmetology Operator Instructor and former high school Spanish teacher with a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She is a leader in creating meaningful Continuing Education Courses, for Cosmetology Instructors, and for all Cosmetology Professionals. She has owned and worked in Beauty Schools as an Instructor and Manager for over 35 years.
Jane is also an experienced administrator in the area of Workforce Development, having managed employment offices and delivered seminars and training to workforce professionals on subjects ranging from resume writing and interviewing to diversity in employment.
Currently, in her company, JSpeak Solutions, she continues to educate Cosmetology professionals and she trains and coaches Vocational School Owners on Management and on Accreditation standards.

Saige Maddison is a dedicated classroom teacher with a passion for helping others. Saige grew up surrounded by the beauty industry, in a family of Cosmetologists and Beauty School Owners!
After college, she began teaching High School Spanish. She is an organized bilingual educator that is passionate and committed to cultivating respect and tolerance in students by enhancing their communication skills. Saige found a particular love for working with foreign students, so she and her family spent a year in China, teaching English.
She currently assists with online continuing education courses for Cosmetology professionals, as well as directing the program for New Arrival Students in Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas.

Aliesh Pierce is the author of Treating Diverse Pigmentation, Milady’s first foray into the world of multi-ethnic education. She began her career in the beauty industry as a celebrity makeup artist to notable figures like India.Arie, Ming Na Wen, and the Obama family. However, when she wanted to get to the core of her client’s concerns, she turned to skin care and has been a licensed esthetician for 16 years. Her aesthetics career includes holding positions as the Director of Education for DMK, the Marketing Manager for R&E Labs, and the Product Training Specialist for Vitality Institute. She is currently an independent consultant for brands that are developing a multi-ethnic strategy. Aliesh shares her knowledge through the courses on her e-learning platform. She also offers customized coaching programs where she guides her students through case studies to go deeper than mere theory.

Beatrice Van, an enthusiastic, positive, self-starter with over 16 years of progressive experience in the beauty industry. Her Clinical Master Aesthetic Students and clients call her a skin magician. In addition to her role as Clinical Master Aesthetics Educator at Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics, she’s licensed in advanced aesthetics, makeup artistry and nail technology. On her days off, she’s working with brides look and feel like the very best versions of themselves or traveling throughout North America as an Education Ambassador for CND. As a well-balanced individual, her roles include educator, advanced trainer, practicing spa, medi-spa and nail specialist. Beatrice has had numerous published works from her hands-on experience, including Lead Artist for both Bridal and Creative editorial makeup team. Jessica Beck is the Director for Prosper U and the former Director of Education for Eric Fisher Academy. She has been in the industry for over 15 years. The first five years were spent behind the chair and managing a salon. Since then, she has been an educator working closely with Eric Fisher, the founder of Prosper U. Jessica is dedicated to the development of business education for beauty professionals and has been a key player in making the Prosper U programs engaging for today’s students.

Jen Fry is the Account Executive for Prosper U and works behind the chair at the Eric Fisher Salon. She has been in the industry for 14 years as a stylist and educator with the Eric Fisher Companies. Jen is passionate about helping students and schools achieve their goals and reach their potential. Victoria Lim has led award-winning communications efforts at the highest levels for organizations in global entertainment, electronic auto manufacturing, telecommunications, national sports leagues and beauty. She is also an Emmy and AP honored journalist who set herself apart from the industry norm almost two decades ago as one of the first journalists to utilize the practice of multimedia storytelling. Lim has conducted trainings around the world on best practices for content marketing, public relations and journalism.

Beauty Industry guru, Gina Sais Quoi, has reinvented herself periodically throughout her professional life as a Licensed Professional Cosmetologist. Entering the industry as a full time hairdresser behind-the-chair, she found creative freedom as an Editorial Stylist, developed true passion for education as a Cosmetology School Instructor, and felt inspired to evolve her career working with a multi-state sales team as a Brand Specialist. The ability to revive your role with a career in the beauty industry is what inspires Gina’s positive “don’t dream it, be it” attitude. Gina Sais Quoi’s goal is to help cultivate the next generation of Professional Hairstylists to not only be taken seriously by other professions – but stand out from all the rest with our unique culture and unlimited opportunities. As of 2018 Sais Quoi has played a pivotal role in developing the first professional Cosmetology School Division for Keune Haircosmetics as the Keune Haircosmetics School Support Manager. Jane Mann has been teaching the science and affects of micro current in a modern esthetic environment for the past 6 years. She has taken a complex topic and made it exciting to learn, understand and want to utilize daily in routine facials as well as specialized microcurrent treatments.

Elizabeth joined International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica in 2015 as an Instructor and Senior Training Specialist where she can share her passion of education to students and professional skin therapists. She has had the honor of speaking at international conferences and events around the country and is excited to be here speaking for this event! Elizabeth joined the beauty industry in 2007 as a Makeup Artist and Personal Beauty Advisor for Sephora, consulting clients on makeup/skincare needs. Elizabeth has a professional background working on set for tv, film, theater, photo shoots, fashion shows, and bridal. She was a theater makeup designer for California State University Long Beach Players Theater and California Repertory for three years and has her BS in Business Management and Operations from California State University Long Beach. Although Elizabeth could touch lives through makeup, she wanted to expand her knowledge into skincare as well. In 2011 Elizabeth became a licensed esthetician through the state of California. Taking advanced courses at the International Dermal Institute and Greet the Day Institute of Integrative Oncology, Elizabeth became certified to provide advanced skincare treatments and comfort chemo touch on clients who needed attention and care with their skin. She continues to educate herself constantly and is always open to learning the new trends in the industry to help her students!

Wella's 2019 Pay it Forward Winner. Jared DeRaj Matthews is an Author, Salon Owner and Master Educator. After years in the field with Ratner Company in North Carolina and Philadelphia, New Jersey, he realized that education was his passion. He joined Empire Educational Group, while there he was Manager of the Student Salon in New York where managed over 600 student and 32 educators. He relocated back to North Carolina to lead the Student Educator Trainer Program in Charlotte and develop and grow the program in Greensboro. He started DeRaj Beauty, an Educational and Motivational company that assist students and professional to reach the next tier in their career. Desiring to be a part of a beauty school system again, he went to Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology in Rock hill, South Carolina. He understands the role of the educator and energy it takes to be one. His desire to grow continues to drive him.

Jessica George is a licensed cosmetologist, educator, and training specialist with over 15 years’ experience in the beauty and wellness industry. Her experience includes working behind the chair, brand educator, fashion and editorial stylist, platform artistry, education director, and curriculum development in both salons and schools. She is passionate about education and driving digital forward. Jessica proudly currently serves as the Implementation and Training Specialist for Milady supporting schools on the east coast when transitioning curriculum from print to digital. She has found the beauty industry has been incredibly rewarding as it continues to evolve. Jessica brings her experience to Milady to support educators teaching with digital in their classrooms as we embrace the future of education.

Q: When did you become a CND Education Ambassador? A: 1/21/1998 Q: Why did you become a Nail Professional? A: I originally became a Nail Professional to help pay for college, after graduating from Beauty College and starting to work in a salon I realized I needed more advanced nail classes if I wanted to be successful. I started taking every local class I could find and found CND, the education helped make me successful and fall in love with our industry, I’ve never looked back and can’t imagine being on any other career path. Q: What inspired you to become a CND Education Ambassador? A: I was inspired to become a CND Education Ambassador because CND products and education changed my career path. Successful techniques and products helped me to be successful and feel empowered. The products, techniques and education were a game changer for me and I want every Nail Professional to feel empowered and excited about all of the amazing opportunities the nail industry can provide.

Greg Myers’ passion for the visual arts and background in photography led him to pursue a career as a stylist. A licensed barber with over 20 years of experience, Greg currently works and resides in Washington, D.C. Greg’s journey with American Crew began in 1999 when he joined TeamCrew and started teaching throughout the Philadelphia area. He accepted an invitation to join the American Crew All-Star team in 2001 and has represented the team at national and international tradeshows, photo shoots and educational events since. As a core member of the American Crew International All-Star Team, Greg has styled the Duckie Brown show at New York Fashion Week, helped develop new education programs and served as a key mentor in the training process for American Crew TeamCrew educators. In 2007, he was formally recognized for his accomplishments and received the acclaimed title of “All-Star of the Year.” In addition to working as an educator and serving as a lead instructor at the American Crew MENSWORK™ Academy, Greg is as an independent stylist and brand consultant.

Pam’s interest in becoming a hair stylist was driven by her desire to enjoy her career. Twenty-five years later, she still feels grateful to do what she loves. She considers her work complete when she has given a client a more appropriate shape and insight on styling techniques. Pam possesses a dual license in barbering and cosmetology. She has immense experience as a stylist and manager, and owned her own salon, Voisard Hair Studio, for 15 years. Pam is currently a stylist and barber at Salon Lofts in Columbus, OH, where she services a primarily male clientele. She is also TeamCrew Director for American Crew and travels across the U.S., guiding new educators through the American Crew MENSWORK™ training program. She admires the history of barbering combined with the artistry of style, and takes great pride in sharing the art of creating masculine design with other stylists. American Crew motivated Pam to look at grooming in a new way. Her training transformed it from an afterthought to an essential part of her service. When working with men’s hair, Pam is drawn to classic looks with a slight edge – styles similar to Dermot Mulroney and Robert Redford.

Mallory Hansen has always had a keen interest in makeup artistry and skin care. She has been in the beauty industry for 8 years, for 5 of those years she worked at Sephora. Mallory also has a great love for esthetics. One of her first passions in the industry was giving her clients the perfect brow and still loves doing that today. Mallory has been with Bella Lash for the past two years and loves the energy and innovation. She loves being part of the lash industry. She believes “there is great art and science to lashing and there is always more to learn! I love meeting new people and lash artists all along the way.”

Shelby Esplin has been in the beauty industry for 5 years, she has a passion for education and working behind the chair. "One of her favorite quotes is Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students. " by Solomon Ortiz Shelby has been with Bella Lash for almost 3 years and working with their education for 2. She has traveled from the U.S./ CA and Asia bringing Bella Lash Education to students. She loves the new and exciting ways Bella Lash innovates the Lash Education Industry and the confidence they give their educators and students.
