Carla Jones What Do You See In Me?: 3-Steps That Build Belonging and Bonding To Create Culturally Responsive Classrooms In this session we focus on “Awareness” and how perceptions of what we see affect our interactions with our future professionals and their interactions peer-to-peer. What if every student that walked through our doors and into our classroom had to meet a “perception” litmus test? What if we are unconsciously creating biases that spill over into our total interaction with one another. In this session we don’t discuss prejudices or race. This session is to identify in a fun, enlightening, and engaging way how each of us carries biases that we wield daily, regardless how subtle and towards what. Did you know that when you dislike someone or something and have never engaged with that someone or something, you have created a bias toward it?
